While spring training may be over for professional baseball players, spring training for your career should continue. Many times, the main motivation for enrolling in continuing professional education (CPE) classes is to earn credit hours for various certifications. However, CPE events also offer a valuable opportunity for networking and staying up-to-date on what is happening in your industry.
The Benefits of Continuing Professional Education
Once a month, finance and accounting professionals in the Tampa area gather at Kforce’s corporate headquarters for free finance and accounting related CPE training. Certified Public Accountants, such as Rick Corbett, need these courses to keep up with their certification credits every two years.

“If you’re in public practice you need to stay up-to-date on all current standard procedures, practices and developments,” says Corbett. The same holds true for professionals in almost every industry. The hope is that the training will help professionals take what they have learned back to the office and apply it when assisting customers. Through a series of videos and seminars, training events can offer an interactive setting and provide you with the chance to discuss industry topics alongside colleagues and potential employers.

“This is especially beneficial for those candidates actively looking for a new position,” says Corbett. “They may have a chance to meet somebody that could lead them to a job.”
That’s the strategy behind hosting CPE events as well.
